╔══ SERIAL PORTS MANAGER version 2.20 ══╗
╚═══════════════════════════════════════════╝
TECHNICAL FEATURES OF THE
SERIAL PORTS MANAGER PACKAGE
UNDER MS - D O S and COMPATIBLE SYSTEMS
■ Installation and setup made easy (SETPILOT.EXE utility and INSTALL.BAT,
a DOS batch file).
■ Able to detect the used material: type of computer, types of the
available UARTs, and IRQ that are associated to them.
■ Fully benefit from the speedy 16550 UART (with its internals buffers).
■ Possible simultaneous management of up to 8 serial ports; the IRQ
2,3,4,5,7,10,11,12 and 15 are all usable, and the addresses of the
serial ports may fully be set as needed. The communication driver
could search by itself the IRQ lines physically associated to every
available port on the used machine (provided that no conflicts
exists in their physical assignments !).
■ Offers serial communications with buffers and flow management
(software and/or hardware hand-shaking of any possible type...).
■ Is able to manage several UART to the means of one same interrupt
line (it is necessary and sufficient that your hardware supports that !)
■ Enhances the serial communications BIOS part (INT 14h) with all the
functions exposed above !
■ Offers a complete control on the initializations and the internal
working of the driver to the means of SETPORT.COM, an external utility
that could be used at any time: your serial ports then become fully
mastered from your DOS prompt, at your finger-tip...
■ May as well be used as a simple BIOS layer, or as a DEVICE DRIVER
integrated to the operating system, or as a programming library
to be included to yours developed programs (by using SCLIB.OBJ...).
■ The interfacings for the C and The PASCAL are fully distributed (in
standard) with their sources, and with a few demonstrations !
